When it comes to authentic Scottish Shortbread, there is no better producer than the Shortbread House of Edinburgh. Producers of genuine hand-made shortbread, they are an enterprise started by Anthony Liang, son of Lord Laing, who was Chairman and founder of United Biscuits (now a global giant). Which is why the family has been referred to more than once as a baking dynasty. So far they’ve won over 100 Great Taste awards, the most by any shortbread manufacturer. In 2020 Shortbread House again won more Great Taste Awards than any other Scottish shortbread bakery with a further 10 awards. This brought their total to over 100 awards. The Great Taste Awards are judged by a panel of food experts, with all products being judged purely on taste and is done on the basis of a blind tasting, with none of the manufacturers’ identities being revealed to the judges. For more than 10 years, we have been importing their fine shortbread for discerning customers in India. Shortbread is a traditional Scottish biscuit usually made from one part white sugar, two parts butter, and either three parts oat flour or four parts plain wheat flour. Other ingredients such as rice flour or corn flour are often substituted for part of the flour to alter the texture. Shortbread Salted Caramel Bites are made extra crispy with the inclusion of deliciously natural salted caramel pieces. The classic combination of the sweet caramel blends perfectly with the salt and buttery shortbread biscuit. Perfect to enjoy with a warm cup of tea or coffee.
