Proteins are the bedrock of a healthy diet. Little known fact, proteins are a nutrient that the human body cannot synthesise and therefore must be consumed constantly through the day, for the optimum functioning of the body. There are many high protein foods that can be consumed. They are vegetarian, non-vegetarian and vegan in nature. Here are the 10 most amazing protein rich foods, to add vigour and vitality to your diet. 

 

  1. Canned Tuna

Tuna is a fish that is wildly popular for both its taste and its health benefits. High in protein and Omega 3 fatty acids, tuna plays a vital role in the smooth functioning of the eyes, the heart, the central nervous system and even the liver. On the protein front, an average 3 ounce serving of fresh and canned tuna has up to 25 – 27 grams of protein. Incorporate tuna in your diet, in a tuna melt, a tuna salad or in spreads made with low-fat mayo, olive oil and vinaigrettes. 

 

  1. Chickpeas (Fresh and canned)

Whole Black beans are used in Mexican delicacies like dips, and stuffing in tacos, burritos and enchiladas. A black bean salad is a satisfying way of incorporating this powerhouse into your diet.
